4.1. IWASA'I: ADVANCED CENTER FOR BIOTECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH AND INNOVATION IN THE
AMAZON.
Objective: To establish Iwasa'i—the Advanced Center for Biotechnology Research and Innovation in the Eastern Amazon—to produce knowledge about the region's biodiversity, biotechnology-based innovation, and the training and retention of human resources in strategic areas for the sustainable social development of the Amazon, combining science and innovation with the conservation of biodiversity, the bioeconomy, and traditional knowledge associated with ancestral peoples. This is important for Amazonian cooperation.

4.2. Project: BIODIVERSITY: UNDER THREAT: CREATION OF A REFERENCE CENTER FOR HIGH-IMPACT RESEARCH AS A GUIDELINE FOR EDUCATION AND EXTENSION
Objective: Expand the network of high-impact research on biodiversity in various taxonomic groups; fill gaps in scientific knowledge (on biodiversity) in the Amazon; expand scientific collections, storing diverse biological materials, from whole specimens to fragments of genetic material and cell lines. Results available for Amazonian cooperation.
