WHAT WE DO

Since 1987, we have promoted academic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation between universities in the Pan-Amazon region.

Our goal is to encourage the implementation of public policies that lead to the sustainable development of the region, for the well-being of man and the environment. Created in 1987, within the scope of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty - TCA, today the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization - OTCA, UNAMAZ arose from the need for an organization dedicated to dialogue and the generation of knowledge between institutions from different countries that face the same socio-environmental challenges. Currently, UNAMAZ brings together sixty university and research institutions that, together, bring together more than 500,000 students at all levels in the eight countries that make up the continental Amazon region: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
