UNAMAZ hosts MEC's program and discusses sustainability in the cosmetics industry during COP 30.

The stand of the Association of Amazonian Universities (UNAMAZ) hosted, on the afternoon of last Wednesday (12), a series of activities promoted by the Ministry of Education (MEC) during COP 30, in Belém. The program included roundtables on sustainability initiatives developed by the MEC for the education network, as well as debates on the leading role of women in the just energy transition and on bioeconomy in the Legal Amazon.
The agenda continued with a specific panel on the impacts of climate change on the beauty industry, bringing together representatives from companies and entities in the sector, such as the design consultancy Questtonó, the Brazilian Association of Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry (ABIHPEC) and the Brazilian Association of Bioinnovation (ABBI).
The debate was moderated by Luiz Ricardo Marinello, lawyer and Sustainability Coordinator at the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). Participants emphasized that innovation alone is not enough to promote concrete advances in sustainability in the sector. For them, it is essential to implement effective actions that can transform practices, reduce environmental impacts, and prepare the industry for the challenges posed by climate change.
The joint presence of public bodies, academic institutions, and market representatives highlighted the importance of cooperation between different sectors to address common challenges and build collective solutions towards a more sustainable future.
