International participation highlights the program at the UNAMAZ stand in the COP 30 Greenzone.
The program this Friday (November 14th) at the UNAMAZ stand, located in the Greenzone — the COP 30 area dedicated to civil society — was marked by intense international participation. The day's program was led by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) of India, which promoted a series of collaborative debates on climate change and public policies, considering the different contexts and realities of participants from the Americas, Africa, and Asia.
Throughout the program, the South Korean organization SFOC (Solutions for Our Climate) also interacted with the audience, prompting reflection on what each person considers most precious in the face of the risks posed by climate change.
Concluding the day's activities, researcher Artur Luiz da Costa da Silva, Technical-Scientific Director of BioTec-Amazônia, presented the research that the center intends to develop after COP 30, focused on identifying resistant microorganisms in wastewater. The study will involve analyses at more than 20 stations distributed throughout Belém and seeks to expand knowledge about the collected microbiological materials, identifying possible modifications and potential impacts on the population.
Professor José Seixas Lourenço, Pro Tempore President of UNAMAZ and CEO of BioTec-Amazônia, concluded the meeting by highlighting that affirming the existence of intelligent life in the Amazon is to recognize the work of thousands of researchers who produce cutting-edge scientific knowledge and propose sustainable solutions to the region's challenges.
