UNAMAZ will have a prominent role at COP30 in Belém.

The Association of Amazonian Universities (UNAMAZ) will have a significant presence in
Official program of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change
(COP30), which will be held in Belém (PA). The organization will participate from the first days.
of the event with a stand located in the GreenZone, promoting debates, launches and
presentations that highlight the role of academic and scientific cooperation between the countries of
Amazon region.
Among the initial activities is the presentation of the UNAMAZ Strategic Plan 2025–2030.
document that defines Pan-Amazonian Projects for all National Chapters of
UNAMAZ and the guidelines for strengthening university integration and for the
Sustainable development in the Pan-Amazon region. The program also includes the launch
from the Pan-Amazonian Center for Biotechnology, IWASAI, and sessions focused on traceability and
Certification of biotechnological products.
Throughout the conference, UNAMAZ will have panels and meetings at its stand addressing...
topics such as innovation, higher education, environmental conservation and development
Sustainable socioeconomic development. And, further debates on the central themes of COP30, which are:
- November 10th and 11th: Focus on Adaptation, Cities, Infrastructure, Water, Waste,
Local Governments, Bioeconomy, Circular Economy and Tourism.
- November 12th and 13th: Debates on Health, Jobs, Education, Culture, Justice and
Human Rights, Information Integrity, Workers, and Global Ethical Balance.
- November 14th and 15th: Transformation of Systems in Energy, Industry, Transportation,
Trade, Finance, Carbon Markets and Non-CO₂ Gases.
- November 17th and 18th: Planetary and Community Management (Forests, Oceans,
Biodiversity), with emphasis on Indigenous Peoples, Local and Traditional Communities,
Children and Youth.
- November 19th and 20th: Discussions on Food, Family Farming, Systems
Food, Food Security, Equity (Women, Gender, Black People) and the role
Science, Technology and AI.
UNAMAZ thus reinforces the strategic role of research and academic training in
Building solutions to the region's climate challenges.
