UNAMAZ is present at the Assembly of the Amazonian Parliament (Parlamaz).

The Amazonian Parliament (Parlamaz) held its 12th Ordinary Assembly last Wednesday (October 8th) in the Federal Senate, in Brasília, bringing together parliamentarians from the eight countries that make up the Legal Amazon. The meeting, which opened the institutional activities in preparation for COP30, had the support of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO).
The president of the Association of Amazonian Universities (UNAMAZ), José Seixas Lourenço, and UNAMAZ consultant, Ambassador Carlos Alfredo Lazary, participated in the meeting, which discussed strategic themes for the future of the Amazon region. Among the topics on the agenda were forest preservation, the protection of indigenous peoples, strengthening dialogue with sectors that use natural resources sustainably, and expanding the institutionalization of the Amazonian Parliament.
The participants reached a consensus on the urgency of intensifying efforts aimed at protecting the forest and guaranteeing the rights and quality of life of the Amazonian peoples.
