Organizations discuss international partnerships to strengthen Pan-Amazonian gastronomy

The Amazon+ Program, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), FIAP Cooperación Española, and Expertise France, announced the opening of applications for financial support for research projects, nurseries, and scientific studies. The initiative is part of the Amazônia Viva project, coordinated by COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale, in collaboration with the University of San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and the National Open and Distance University (UNAD).
The call seeks to strengthen local and regional capacities to address the environmental challenges that threaten the Amazon, encouraging innovative and sustainable solutions to combat deforestation, forest degradation, and fires.
Who can participate
Public and private universities, research centers, and community institutions from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, as well as higher education institutions and research centers from the European Union interested in developing academic and scientific cooperation, are eligible to apply.
Financial support
The following will be selected:
• 5 research projects, which will receive up to €8,350 each;
• 8 nurseries or scientific studies, with support of up to €7,000 each.
The projects must be developed in specific areas of the Amazon in the four participating countries.
Priority thematic areas
• Sustainable forest management
• Integrated fire management (IWM)
• Management of protected areas
• Preventive actions against deforestation and forest degradation
Timeline
• Public notice launch: September 15, 2025
• Submission of questions: until 09/22/2025 (6:00 p.m. – Colombia time)
• Answers to questions: until 09/26/2025
• Deadline for submission of proposals: 10/03/2025 (6:00 PM – Colombia time)
• Results announced: October 22, 2025
• Project execution: from November 2025 to June 2026
